Our Story
My name is John Jenkins and I’m a Ship’s Captain and Master Mariner with 23 years’ experience sailing the oceans of the world. But my real passion is fishing; catching the best tasting, freshest, highest quality shellfish in the world (in my opinion!) My family is one of the oldest families in the Isles of Scilly and they have been fishing the Scillonian azure crystal-clear waters for centuries.

Now, I’m hanging up my Captain’s hat and coming home full time to fish in my brand new small inshore fishing boat Artemis SC 33 and I would like to offer you the chance for you to obtain locally daily caught live fresh shell fish and other wet fish according to seasonal availability.
Sustainability
The fishing methods I will be using will be sustainable to the fullest extent possible – the future of the fishing industry and the marine eco system are very important to me as is the environment as a whole. The preservation of the beauty and tranquillity of Scilly is very close to my heart of course, but so is the future of the whole planet. For this reason, I’m committed to zero waste disposal or discharges at sea and I will be collecting all the waste I find at sea (sadly I still come across too much floating plastic and other flotsam and jetsam) to bring ashore and be disposed of properly. Furthermore, I’m also committed to being the first carbon neutral fishing business in the Isles of Scilly – I will be reducing as much as possible and then offsetting my carbon footprint by partaking in carbon offsetting schemes and I hope to obtain full carbon neutral accreditation in due course. All these details, along with my family’s history of fishing will be available on my website so your guests will be able to rest assured that they are consuming not only an extremely high-quality product, but that it has been produced by a sustainable and environmentally friendly operation.
Concept & Services
My concept is more than simply the supply of fish; I will personally deliver the live fresh fish to your boat at anchor or to the quay so the fish really will be “from sea to plate” and all caught within a just a few miles and hours of delivery. As a bonus you will have the opportunity to meet me and my boat to discuss/learn/ask questions about where the fish has come from and how it’s caught.

They will see the beauty of the islands and the clarity of the waters and will find the opportunity to partake of the best and freshest quality fish, caught daily and delivered live irresistible, I’m sure. All that will remain to be done is for your top-quality chefs to cook the fish to perfection.

I will be able to supply: Lobster, Brown Crab and Crawfish (Crayfish) which can be supplied live – these are the main catches of the boat. Also available: Monk Fish, Brill and Turbot, Ray, Skate, Pollack and Mackerel plus others according to availability and season.

And additionally: If required I can supply fresh, hand-picked White and Brown crab meat.
